Health System Challenges from Shifting Global Disease Burden - Proposal

Heidelberg University proposes to establish International Research Training Group in challenges in global health systems, which bundles excellent institutes and researchers currently scattered over several faculties of the University of Heidelberg, in partnership with Umeå University (Sweden) and Karolinska Institutet (Sweden).

The students will receive during three years intense supervision by a team of up to three experienced investigators (the main supervisor, co-supervisor and/or local filed work supervisor in Low and Middle Income Country). Dissertation projects are nested within ongoing research projects, providing students with direct access to some of the largest longitudinal public health studies in partner universities as well as in the 30 research training sites of the international organisation for the demographic evaluation of populations and their health in developing countries - "INDEPTH" network (http://www.indepth-network.org/). An exciting mobility program for lecturer and students enables the students to expand their academic and public health horizon.
